American Flag Finally Raised at City Hall...On a Cheap Flagpole

On December 20, 2005, a petition with 186 signatures of Hilshire Village residents was submitted to the city council, and read as follows:

“ We, the undersigned residents of Hilshire Village, propose that the City Council of Hilshire Village have a flagpole erected to fly the United States flag at the new city hall to comply with US Code, Title 36,Chapter 10.{}176, e. We further propose that this flagpole be at least 35 feet in height, fly a United States flag no smaller than 6 feet by 10 feet in size, and be illuminated at night. This new flagpole should be dedicated to all veterans, especially World War II veterans who helped to form Hilshire Village. We believe this is needed not only to comply with the United States flag code, but to show our patriotism in this critical time in history.”

The city council then chose to ignore all provisions of the petition, including the minimum height and size requirements for the flag and flagpole. Most importantly, city council chose to ignore the complete purpose of the flag and flagpole, which according to the petition, was to honor all veterans, especially World War II veterans who had founded the City of Hilshire Village.

The city council originally approved the spending of $1500, but installed a cheap telescoping flagpole for $350, using the excuse that a real aluminum flagpole would not hold up in a storm (real flagpoles are rated for 150+ mph winds).

Almost five years has gone by, and nobody has challenged the city council on this blatant disregard of the people's will.

Fidel or Connie? I always wondered if they were related.

I am still trying to figure out all those silly little trees planted real close together next to the road in front of the ravines. Didn't they spend $25,000 on that mess?

A storm?" Any good American (born and raised here) knows that the American flag isn't to be flown in bad weather anyway, there for there should be no wind resistance or drag in storm winds, leaving the flagpole in an erect upright position... So either go with a heavy steel beam stolen from the construction sight at "Ground Zero"NY or just fill a flimsy, cheap pole with Viagra .

With that experience, you have a better chance in landing a permanent job in a bigger hospital.

It is not uncommon for massage therapists to consult with physiotherapists before and
during a massage. Depending on your lifestyle, now you also have the option to opt
for online schools.

Also, it could only require a little over three
years to complete. There are also those who deal with athletes
who need a private physio therapist to ascertain their health condition in a frequent interval.
RTs can also explore the option of branching out into business
roles with equipment manufacturers, or join the world of research and academics.

It has been over ten years and Hilshire Village still has not complied to the original "Flag Petition". The Petition called for a 35 ft flag pole and at least an American Flag of 6ft x 10 ft. They live in million dollar homes and pay a lot of taxes, but the city is too poor to have a large flag pole and a U.S. Flag.
